HI guys.
I'm a 51 year old who has just bought a new 250cc Bolwell Firenze "scooter" and am on my L's but would love to join. Can I join while still on my L's and is my 2 wheeled chariot acceptable for membership?
I have been working hard all my life at growing old disgracfully..
Greg
Ken:
Hi Greg. The scooter is fine, but sorry, you'll need a full licence to join.

came over from south africa in september 2007.am 44 and the wife is 40 have no kids looking to make some new biking friends, want to join a ulysses club close to our "new" hometown or become a country member of one in another town.south african truck and big bike license valid for length of my temp. visa.
own a '96 1200 bandit-no money for a harley.
been riding road and off-road bikes since i was 16.
where and how do i join?
Ken:
Well Michael, if you look at the left side of the page, you'll see a list of menu items (I hope). Click on 'How to join'.
But if you live in Port Lincoln, maybe a branch further north might be appropriate?
Harley vs Bandit? -I'd take the Bandit, myself.

Hello have just turned 50 and finally got wife to agree to me riding again after 2 broken legs back in the 80s (Sydney cars dont see bikes)
Problem is at the moment could only get her to agree to new Aquilla 250
would i be allowed to become a member with this bike
Thanks
Ken:
Sure Brian. Ulysses doesn't discriminate on the basis of what you ride. And you'll find a few others with 250cc bikes or scooters around the place. Your Aquilla will probably beat some members' bikes.

Hi everyone,
Kawasaki Australia had given me options for another ride they wanted and I have chosen to be at SA Motorcycles on the Saturday of Easter after riding down Friday. If any are keen on doing the ride out to meet and ride back in or just come to the sausage sizzle keep an eye on this.

Hi, I am moving back to Adelaide after 21 years on no winters. Hope to leave darwin by Feb 20 and ride my ol Virago 1100 via Uluru - anyone know a good masseur in Adelaide, my butt might need it after this ride
Am really looking forward to finally joining Ulysses when I arrive and going on a few rides. The Wednesday ones sound great for a shift worker who to often works on weekends.
Ken:
Hi Kevin. Be careful, they're a mad mob those Wednesday riders. :)

Warm greetings to the Ulysses club members who attended my Dad's service. Dad loved riding his "Beemer". But i know he loved riding it even more with his fellow club members. We are so sad to say goodbye, but i know you all made him very proud on friday at his funeral. Don't be afraid to reflect on the good times shared and the laughs had with Mark aka The Cancerman. You all did him and his family proud and we extend many thanks. You will never ride alone because Mark Bridgland has got your back :) Ride safely always.

Hi, I am desperately looking for a Rowley Park Commemorative Speedway Coin which was put on in April 1979 to commemorate the closing down of Rowley Park. My husband's father raced and was killed at Rowley in 1966 and I would love to get him one as a Christmas present. I'm hoping to find someone somewhere that has one they would sell, or knows where I could get one. Harley Dillon was killed in the speedcar SA66, but previous to that raced solos and motorcross (or whatever it was called then). Any information would be great. Thanks.

How do we post photos on the photo page? Maz & I took a few today on the Pink Ribbon Run & plan to take our camera along on future runs. Todays run was a blast!! Congrats to Liv & all those involved in organising it, well done.
Ken:
You can send them to me (the webmaster), or if you plan on posting them periodically, I can set you up with a login. Either way, you should crop them as you wish, then shrink each to less than 200kB first. Or, you can put them on a photo storage site, and send me the link.
The photo gallery is not open slather, for two reasons: we don't want spam; and the space is a limited resource for which we pay for, so some control is needed.

Hi Ken"
I got to Burra to meet a few People over the long weekend. You are correct. I also met some of those who like to knock Harley Riders. Oh well" If it makes them feel better about their own Bike and them self's so be it. I don't pretend to be better than other Riders because I ride a Harley. So" Relax Guy's
I look forward to taking a ride or two soon.

Hi Everyone!
I have been a HOG Member for two years and I have pondered about also joining the Ulysses Club for some time.
I am definetaly not one of those People who distinguishes on what Bikes People ride. To me they are all Bikers!!
I would like to join a ride or two with the Club prior to possibly joining.
I am just past the big 50 year mark and I am more interested in the not so fast paced rides. Lets say under the 120 km range and where one is not pressured to keep up with the front of the Pack?
Looking forward to meeting some of you's.
Ray
Ken:
Hi Ray. There are plenty of Harleys in the club. The only distinction on bikes, is good-natured stirring. Weekend rides are normally a bit longer than 120km, but the pace isn't too fast. You can always find members to ride with separately for a shorter or gentler ride.

Well what can I say? Mazz & I joined the Adelaide branch about a month ago & since then, weve had a ball with anything to do with the Ulysses club!! Weve only been on 2 rides so far, (we missed a couple because of Mazz' shoulder surgery), but we have enjoyed the rides immensely. We are very impressed with the way the rides are run, ie: Andrews leadership, the rider stopping to indicate direction & so on, very efficent & organised. We also like the fact that we can ride at our own pace, (slugs on wheels!!), very cool. We have met some very nice people, helpful & for the most part, good fun. We get a few comments from strangers about being "those old farts on bikes" but hey, its all good, lovin' every minute of it. The only thing we regret, we didnt join sooner...

G'day, My name is Jake & my partner Mazz & I are intending to join the Ulysses club. We will be attending the Thursday night meeting where we will sign on the dotted line!! I am 48, Mazz is 42. We ride a Kawasaki 800 Vulcan cruiser which we have nicknamed "Fat Betty", (its a long story...) We have only resumed riding after a long break of many years & would love to ride in a group & enjoy a social involvement with other likeminded people. We look forward to maybe meeting some of you soon.
Ken:
Welcome Jake. There are a few Vulcans in the club. Come early, have tea there and introduce yourself to a a bunch of people who look like they are enjoying themselves.

The secret is out - Ulysses is the place to be!
I've been a bike fan since my big brother first put me on the back of his Honda when I was a kid, but haven't yet got around to my own bike.
But my mission for this year is to change that!

I will be relocating to Adelaide for a few months from end of September, 2007 and would like to join your rides. I ride a Yamaha Majesty and would love to catch up with other Ulyssians especially those I met at Coffs.
Can anyone recommend a good Camping area/Caravan Park as I will be travelling in Motorhome with Bike on trailer.
Ken:
Hi Judith.
Your choice of caravan park will probably depend on where you want to be, near the city, near the beach, or near the Marion shopping centre and theatre complex. I think all are pretty good.
Adelaide branch has rides Sundays and Wednesdays, so no problem joining a few. Come to a meeting and announce yourself!

Hello, what a great site. I am coming over to Adelaide on the 16th of March and staying until Mid April. We will be looking to migrate so we are having a recy. I am a member of the I.A.M and Motorcycle action group here in England and have been unsure wether i could settle in Auz, but having seen your site i can't wait to go. Would you accept a junior (41) member from England if i promise not to be a winging pom??.
Keep riding
Roger...
Ken:
Sure Roger. Just rock up to a meeting of any or all of the various Adelaide groups and have a chat with the members. I'm sure you will be welcome. Ulysses members come from all over the place. There is a group started in the UK as well.

Just bought a new Kawasaki Vulcan Cruiser (yesterday) after being without a motorbike for 10 years, and even with 40ยบ outside today, I could not resist to do a round-trip via the hills. My wife was very reluctant to "allow" me buying this beauty, but after today's ride, she's already asking about the next trip! I guess we'll now get out of the house more often
Love your website, and would love to join the club, even though I'm in the "junior" member group.
Where's the nearest branch from where we live and who's the contact person for that location?
Thanks, Johan!
Ken.:
Adelaide is probably your closest branch Johan. The other two are Fleurieu and Torrens Valley. Links to their sites on the Club & General Links page.

You can't actually buy a bike from this site Alana, unless someone is someone is selling one in the Classifieds section.
Although that is really for members, you could put a wanted ad in there.

Torrens Valley Branch would have to be closest - Parafield gardens Community Centre, Shepherdson Road, Parafield Gardens, 3rd Tuesday of the Month - 7:30 PM, or Adelaide Branch, West Adelaide Football Club, 57 Milner Road Richmond, First Thursday of the Month, Meetings start 8 PM, most get there an hour early for social chit chat, meals etc. They are a good bunch all round, I go to both !!
